Apply to be the 2023 Artist on the Farm!!
Now accepting applications!! Deadline to apply is the end of day, March 13th, 2023.
The selected artist will be notified the first week of April, 2023.
About the Program
We believe in the creativity of artists and want to support local artists. Artists inspire us to all dream bigger and think more creatively about our world and how we engage with it. Every year, Jack’s Solar Garden sponsors an Artist on our Farm who will showcase what our work means to the community and engage the community with their chosen art.
Open to artists in Colorado able to travel regularly to Jack’s Solar Garden: Painters, sculptors, photographers, printmakers, musicians, writers, poets, quilters, puppeteers, filmmakers, dancers, philosophers, performance artists, ceramicists, textile artists, tik-tokers, and any other medium we may not have thought of are encouraged to apply!
We will support the chosen artist with an upfront stipend of $500 that can help with supplies, transportation, collaboration, or other costs associated with bringing their art to the farm and an additional $500 at the end of the program, to be provided in October. You will have access to the farm from April-October for creating art.
Please note that no accommodations or indoor studio space is offered as a part of this program. The artist will have access to 20+ acres of outdoor space at the farm during their time in the program.
As part of the program, at least one piece of art, jointly agreed upon with the artist, will be donated to Jack’s Solar Garden in perpetuity, to share with the community as part of the program’s legacy. Events will be held at Jack’s Solar Garden throughout the season where the artist will have the opportunity to showcase their work.
In 2020, our first Artist on the Farm, Rachael Scala, repurposed farm materials into art and hosted a community art day. In 2021, Michelle Bernier hosted educational dance workshops and created two dance films on-site. In 2022, Jeff Goldberg took amazing photos of models and research activities within the solar array and hosted a few events.
How to Apply
Please submit a 2-page written document sharing your experience as an artist, the style of artwork you will employ, the methods in which you will engage our community and some samples of your work. A link to a portfolio of your work is acceptable beyond the 2-page written document limit.

Jack’s Solar Garden will review the applications and announce the 2023 Artist on the Farm the first week of April.
